The Proving of O3zone
The discussions about Ozone began in the 1990’s when the public became more aware of the damage to the Ozone layer. There is a difference between stratospheric Ozone and surface related Ozone smog. Ozone is a natural substance contained in the air. Photochemical processes develop it: UV rays split molecular Oxygen into two Oxygen atoms, which then bind with additional 02- molecules to form the 3-molecular Ozone.
The Ozone in the stratosphere absorbs the dangerous UV radiation and by doing this, protects life on earth. Contrary to this, surface related Ozone could endanger health. How does Ozone reach lower air layers? Air turbulences transport 03 closer to the earth’s surface. Additional to this process, 03 is produced as a result of increased pollution especially from dissociated constituents of Nitrogen Dioxide contained in car exhaust.
Ozone is derived from the Greek language and means "smelling" and "spreading odor". Ozone is an irritant gas. In small concentrations it’s odor is close to the odor of cloves. In stronger concentration, the gas is "biting" like chlorine. Ozone, a strong anti-oxidant, is used as a disinfectant to kill bacteria, algae and fungus. It bleaches colors.
Clinical medicine has confirmed following diseases caused from Ozone exposure:
- Diseases of the respiratory tract, shortness of breath, bronchitis
- Irritation of the nasal mucus membranes and the conjunctiva
- Vertigo, buzzing or ringing in the ear, disturbance of vision
- Loss of sense of taste
- Allergies and hypersensitivities
- Burning sensation of the skin and mucus membranes
- Chronic fatigue, exhaustion and depression
- Sleeping disorders, difficulties with concentration and loss of memory
- Itching, rashes
- and much more...
In his lectures J. T. Kent says how a substances burdening humankind as a poison during a particular time period has the potential to become a medicine for the next generation. What where the results of the Ozone proving?
The provings symptoms of all 45 provers are listed in the Ozone book. Multiply confirmed themes are printed in bold. In the English version of the book I added comments and thoughts of Catherine Scharfstein about the "Interpretation through chemistry." Catherine's experience during her former profession as a material and process engineer allowed her to formulate a symbolic picture of Oxygen and Ozone.
